achieving goals

The best way I have learned to know how to achieve goals is as follows: First, figure out what you want to have; in other words, why do you want that goal? What is your object once you have attained that goal? Second, knowing what you want to have, ask yourself what could you do to achieve that goal? What actions would it take? Third, knowing both your goal and what you could do, determine what role you will play or be...and then play or be that. ("play" because life is a game.) To reach a goal by starting at "being" really gives you no idea of where you are going or what to do when you get there; you might never recognize you have arrived if and when you do get there. Following these steps in the direction of Have-Do-Be makes it easy to achieve Be-Do-Have and become a success with your goals. NOTE: Once you know what to "be" you can then learn the technologies required from that viewpoint to enable you to "do" the tasks and accomplish what you wished to "have." This approach is very helpful for salespeople and enables easier selling and more success on the job. |
