ice-cream habit
By Ron Kule
My vice is definitely ice-cream! Any ice-cream that is cold and wet when inside my mouth qualifies for my favorite flavor of the moment. This is a vice for me, because my eyes cannot handle any milk products. I mean my eyes the next day get all red and puffy, sometimes itchy, after I eat ice-cream the night before, but I don't care! I love my ice-cream! Flavors of ice-cream - I have no favorite one. My mood shifts from time to time. One day an ice-cream sandwich is at the top of my list - smooth creamy vanilla 'tween two chocolate cookie wafer layers...yummy! Another day it's coffee ice-cream...but it has to be Haagen-Dazs brand. I don't want fillers and synthetics in my bowl; give me milk, sugar, eggs and real coffee extract flavor alone. And give me a full pint at a time, too! Strawberry, cherry vanilla, vanilla bean, honey vanilla, french vanilla...hhmmm, I sense a trend here. Strawberry revisited: again Haagen-Dazs is the purest with real frozen straberry chunks mixed in! Still, I love to visit a Dairy Queen and order a large vanilla cone on a hot summer day. One of their best stores can be visited in Iowa in a town called Clear Lake, where they swirl it high and tight! Mouth-watering! I'll let you in on a secret, though: if you are out looking for an ice-cream cone where you can really mix your flavors up, and mix in other ingredients, and where the ice-cream is outstandingly good you have to seek out and find your local Marble Slab Creamery store. Absolutely the best you'll find today! A cold and wet vice is a nice habit to have, no matter what your eyes tell you.

I'd love to read what others consider are their favorite flavored vice of ice-cream.

OH YEAH! I had forgotten about chocolate ice-creams! YUM!
I found a Red Raspberry Sherbet, Fat Free that is really tart and a great cool treat on a hot day. 110 calories and available as a Great Value Brand at Walmart. The quality and flavor really surprised me. Thank you for sharing, Ron, I think I need a sherbet break now! Best Wishes. Frederick

Red Raspberry Sherbet sounds like a sure bet, Frederick! And no dairy in it, either. I like my desserts cold and wet. Ice-Cream does it for me. Down in Florida there are places called Orange Grove stores where they sherbet is pure orange juice flavored...from the trees out back to the juicer to the ice-cream mill - really fresh treat...and WAAAAAYYYYYYYY COOLLLL Orange!!!!!!!!!!1
Oh, good. For a moment I thought you were going to try to take all our fun away. Kids like ice cream, but it seems that the older we get the more we like it. You should see the hundreds of people that line up to get a free ice cream cone when a drugstore in my neighborhood gives them away to the seniors. I remember an interview with a woman 102 years of age who attributed her longevity to a nightly bowl of ice cream. I sure don't have it that often, but when someone tries to lay a guilt trip on people for indulging, I remember her. I will have one tablespoon of the nice creamy cool stuff in her honor tonight.

Janet, let's get two long-handled spoons and a couple of bowls - quart sized would be just fine - and we'll sit down and have some coffee caramel swirl with fresh cherries mix-in in one of them...and a peach/blackberry swirl combo with jimmies mix-in in the other, together!
Sounds delicious. I'm wanting some now - Strawberry, Vanilla and French Vanilla, Coffee, Maple Walnut and good old fashioned chocolate. But they have to be made with real milk, none of this yogurt, and the rest of the ingredients need to be real too!

Nice to see your yummy comment! Lately I've been buying quarts from the Marble Slab Creamery store - usually red raspberry with maple walnut mixed, although coffee with chocolate swiss is a good mix!
